45-Year-Old Man Arrested For Posing As Doctor, Running Illegal Fertility Clinic In Ibadan

A 45-year-old man, Adeniyi Benjamin, has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly posing as a medical doctor and operating an unlicensed medical facility in the Olodo area of Ibadan.

Benjamin was arrested on October 2, 2026, at about 3:00 p.m. by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit at his facility, identified as “Life Is Good Hospital.”

The arrest followed intelligence received by the police concerning his alleged activities at the facility.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the suspect was arrested while attending to patients and administering fertility-related treatments despite allegedly having no medical qualification or licence to practise medicine.

According to the police, items recovered from the facility included two weighing scales, four Quantum Magnetic Resonance Body Analysers, a stethoscope, specimen bottles and a carton containing assorted medicines.

Ayanlade said preliminary investigations revealed that Benjamin had allegedly been operating the facility for several years.

“During preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to have been operating as a quack practitioner for about seven years and stated that he had been doing so despite not being a medical doctor and without possessing any licence whatsoever to practise medicine.

“He further stated that he specialises in fertility-related treatment, which he had been administering to patients at the facility,” Ayanlade stated.

The police expressed concern over the alleged activities, warning that they could expose unsuspecting members of the public, particularly people seeking fertility treatment, to serious health risks.

The Command urged members of the public to verify the qualifications and registration status of medical practitioners before seeking medical treatment.

Police said investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspect’s activities and identify possible accomplices.

The suspect is expected to be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
