The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke, has expressed confidence that he will emerge victorious in the 2027 governorship election after five unsuccessful attempts.
Speaking to the media after received members of the Katsina Frontier in Support of Senator Yakubu Lado for Governorship at a ceremony held in Katsina, Lado said his political ambition was gaining momentum, claiming that people from different political parties were joining the PDP in support of his 2027 governorship bid.
The former senator admitted that he had contested the governorship election five times under different political parties without success but said he was convinced that the next election would be different.
“I have contested five times under different political parties, but this time, I am confident of winning the election,” he said.
Lado said he is not seeking the governorship seat to enrich himself, build houses or marry more wives, but to change what he described as poor governance in Katsina State.
He accused Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration of failing to deliver on its responsibilities, alleging that government ministries and other sectors were not functioning effectively.
He also faulted the state government’s handling of insecurity, saying residents continued to suffer killings and kidnappings by bandits. He urged the electorate to vote out the APC in 2027, describing the election as an opportunity to change the direction of the state.
Lado assured the new supporters of fair treatment and promised to work with them towards achieving the party’s objectives.
In his remarks, the leader and coordinator of the Katsina Frontier, Ali Sani, pledged to mobilise supporters through grassroots campaigns and house-to-house mobilisation to ensure the PDP’s victory.
He urged residents to vote for all PDP candidates in the 2027 elections, assuring them that the party would not disappoint the people as they are the party’s first constituency that will benefit from its purposeful leadership.
