APM Youth Leader Hails Adeoye As Frontline Alternative To Lead Lagos

The Lagos State Youth Leader of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Zainab Aderinsola, has described the party’s 2027 governorship candidate, Prince Laja Adeoye, as a frontline alternative capable of leading Lagos State, citing his private-sector experience, political background and policy agenda.

Aderinsola, in a statement titled : “Alausa 2027: Why Laja Adeoye of the APM is the frontline alternative to lead Lagos in 2027,” said Lagos needed a political alternative capable of addressing challenges confronting residents, including transportation, housing, electricity, healthcare, employment, flooding and security.

She argued that Lagos had outgrown a political system in which decisions about the state’s leadership were concentrated in the hands of a few individuals, insisting that the state needed broader participation and a government more responsive to residents’ everyday needs.

According to her, Adeoye’s “Atunto Eko 1.0” agenda was designed around practical solutions to the challenges facing Lagosians. She said his experience living and working in Lagos, coupled with his background in property development and infrastructure, positioned him to understand the state’s economic and social challenges.

Adeoye, born on May 2, 1981, holds a diploma in computer science, a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Lagos and a master’s degree in property development and management from Leadcity University. He is also pursuing an Executive MBA and is the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fendini Group.

Aderinsola said Adeoye’s private-sector experience included property development and mixed-use projects, citing Rayfield Gardens City Estate, which she said comprises more than 400 residential units alongside commercial and social facilities. She also highlighted the activities of the Laja Adeoye Foundation in supporting people in need.

She said Adeoye joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2009 and later served as pioneer publicity secretary of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Lagos State and subsequently as national publicity secretary. He returned to the PDP in 2021 and contested the Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II seat in the 2023 House of Representatives election.

According to Aderinsola, Adeoye left the PDP in May 2026 over internal leadership and legal issues before emerging as the APM governorship candidate after screening, clearance and a consensus primary. She said his candidacy was affirmed at the party’s primary in Yaba on July 23, with delegates drawn from the 20 local government areas, while Kemi Adenuga emerged as his running mate.

She said the campaign had commenced issue-based engagements across parts of the state, including Lagos Island, Epe, Alimosho, Badagry, Ikeja and Lagos Mainland. Among the proposals under “Atunto Eko 1.0” are the creation of 100,000 direct jobs within two years and 1.5 million jobs within four years through technology hubs, agro-processing, skills academies and other initiatives.

On infrastructure and social services, Aderinsola said Adeoye was proposing 2,000 megawatts of electricity through independent power projects across the five IBILE divisions of Lagos, alongside affordable housing, single-digit mortgages and the construction or rehabilitation of more than 300 primary healthcare centres within 18 months.

She added that the agenda included flood-control measures, improved waste management, expanded Bus Rapid Transit and water transportation, digital traffic management, and a proposed state electricity grid. Adeoye also plans to replace the Governor’s Advisory Council with a broader advisory body and convert the state’s 37 Local Council Development Areas into full local governments.

Aderinsola acknowledged the strength of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing its political structure, resources and incumbency advantage, but maintained that Adeoye represented a credible alternative ahead of the February 6, 2027 governorship election. “Lagos has outgrown a politics in which a few men choose the governor and the rest of the state adjusts,” she said.
