The Federal Government has released eight months’ withheld salary arrears owed to members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), barely 48 hours after the union threatened to disrupt activities on Nigerian university campuses.
The development followed a 14-day ultimatum issued by SSANU over the implementation of the 2026 FGN/SSANU Agreement and the payment of outstanding entitlements to its members.
Daily Trust reports that the union had demanded the immediate release of funds for the payment of outstanding Consolidated University Teaching and Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTISS) arrears calculated from January 1, 2026.
