GIG Mobility (GIGM) has opened its new terminal in Gwagwalada, noting that the facility brings GIGM’s intercity transportation services closer to residents of the area and neighbouring communities.
At the launch of the 40th terminal in Gwagwalada, GIGM says the opening also responds to a demand that residents had expressed over time.
While commenting, Dr. Enahoro Okhae, CEO GIGM, stated, “The opening of GIGM’s Gwagwalada terminal is beyond an extension of GIGM’s network. This is a facility that has been created to serve the people of Gwagwalada and its surrounding communities. This is a bold move as we are also creating local employment opportunities and empowering the people of Abuja to move freely.
“With GIGM already operating in Abuja, people in Gwagwalada had been asking when the company would establish a presence in their community. The new terminal answers that request and gives travellers another place to begin their journeys.”
The terminal is described as a facility for the people of Gwagwalada and its surrounding communities as it was not limited to access to transportation alone, but about the potential for local employment and the wider economic activity that can accompany a new business facility.
That community focus gives the terminal a significance beyond its place in GIGM’s network. Its long-term value will also be reflected in how residents use the facility, the opportunities it supports and the quality of service they experience.
Representatives of the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were among the stakeholders present at the opening.
The Gwagwalada Terminal is one part of GIGM’s wider mobility offering in Abuja, alongside PASS, its travel and tours planning service, and hireX, its premium vehicle-hire marketplace.
