The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over the successful hosting of President Bola Tinubu and members of the Rainbow Coalition at a political gathering in Rivers State.
The party described the gathering, held on Saturday, as historic, saying it demonstrated Wike’s political influence, organisational capacity and ability to mobilise support across political divides.
In a statement issued on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the PDP said the impressive turnout at the event had underscored Wike’s political relevance and capacity to mobilise people.
The party said the gathering also offered an opportunity for those questioning the minister’s political influence and relevance to reconsider their positions.
According to the statement, political leadership should be measured by the ability to organise, engage and deliver rather than by criticism or public commentary.
The PDP also reaffirmed its commitment to standing by Wike, noting that political differences should not overshadow loyalty, mutual respect and constructive engagement in the collective interest of the country.
It further acknowledged the minister’s contributions to the party, stressing that his political relevance and place within the PDP remained important.
The party congratulated Wike on what it described as a successful outing, adding that the turnout at the gathering was a fitting response to his critics and detractors.
