The running mate to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Lawal Musa Daura, has said the party’s agenda is to fight misrule and promote honest, sincere and inclusive governance if elected into power.
Daura said the party was committed to ensuring that anyone entrusted with political leadership remained accountable and dedicated to serving the interests of Nigerians.
He stated this on Saturday in Bauchi during the APM presidential campaign flag-off, where he warned that the politics of lies, deceit and hypocrisy posed a serious threat to Nigeria’s democracy.
He said the party was proposing a government that would prioritise the welfare of citizens and operate under a clearly defined collective development plan capable of taking the country to greater heights.
According to him, the APM agenda is not designed to benefit an individual or a particular group but to provide equal opportunities for all Nigerians, irrespective of their religious, ethnic, cultural or social backgrounds.
“This is not about one individual or a particular group. It is about all of us.
“That is why our agenda is designed to ensure that every Nigerian, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, colour or background, has a place in government,” he said.
Daura stressed that the party was not seeking political power for personal enrichment or publicity but to serve Nigerians and improve their living conditions.
“We are serious about this mission. We are not here for political entertainment or mere publicity. We are here because we want to work for Nigerians.
“Our happiness will not come from stealing public funds or enriching ourselves with resources meant for the people. Rather, it will come from seeing happiness on the faces of Nigerians,” he said.
He added that the satisfaction of political leaders should come from seeing citizens enjoy prosperity, achieve success and experience meaningful development.
The APM running mate also assured that the party would work towards addressing the security and economic challenges confronting the country.
The former director general of the State Security Service (SSS) consequently called on Nigerians to support the party and vote for the APM in the forthcoming elections.
