The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has charged Nigerian women to take the campaign for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to communities across the country as the party begins preparations for the 2027 general elections.
She gave the charge on Monday in Abuja while inaugurating the APC Presidential Women Campaign Council, which is expected to coordinate the party’s women mobilisation efforts ahead of the elections.
In a statement by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady said the women’s campaign structure would mobilise support for APC candidates from the presidency to the governorship, National Assembly and state assembly elections.
She also disclosed plans for six zonal mega rallies, state rallies and a grand finale in Abuja as part of the campaign programme.
According to her, various women support groups that had previously operated under different platforms had been brought together under one campaign structure.
“We have collapsed every other women support groups into one — from Tinubu Again, Torch Bearers, etc. What you will see on the ballot box is APC. We’re here to promote APC, nothing less,” she said.
She urged the women to return to their respective states and communicate the administration’s programmes and achievements to voters at the grassroots.
The First Lady said the theme of the women’s campaign, “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity,” reflected what she described as the administration’s progress in the economy and other sectors.
She cited declining inflation, growing foreign reserves, support for farmers and access to student loans through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) among the areas she said demonstrated the impact of the administration’s policies.
“Our economy is stabilising. Inflation is coming down. Our foreign reserves are growing. Investors are returning to Nigeria. Our farmers are getting more support. Our children in the universities are now able to access student loans through the NELFUND scheme, just to mention a few,” she said.
Oluremi Tinubu urged the women to mobilise voters across their communities and support APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
She said the women should demonstrate their support for the party at the ballot box, adding that the campaign would seek to reach communities across the country.
The APC National Women Leader, Mary Alile Idele, said the party’s women leadership would take the administration’s reform message from government policies to homes, markets, communities and grassroots locations.
She said the women’s network would be strengthened across wards and local governments while connecting women to available empowerment opportunities.
“We must move from mobilisation to measurable actions with clear responsibility, grassroots structure, regular engagement and accountable results,” she said.
Also speaking, the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, urged women from the six geopolitical zones to take the campaign message back to their communities.
She highlighted interventions under the Renewed Hope Initiative involving students, women, older persons and people living with disabilities, saying women should communicate the programmes to people in their localities.
The First Lady of Kwara State and Chairperson of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum, Amb. Prof. Olufolake Abdulrazaq, said wives of state governors were ready to participate in the campaign across the states and geopolitical zones.
She noted that delegates at the event represented the 36 states and more than 774 local government areas, adding that the women were prepared to mobilise at the grassroots.
The Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, also said the turnout at the inauguration demonstrated the readiness of women to participate in the party’s campaign activities.
He urged the women to translate their mobilisation efforts into votes during the 2027 elections.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, challenged each woman at the gathering to return to her community and mobilise at least 100 women for the APC.
