a story of resilience, reinvention and the courage to start again.
There are moments in life when everything appears to be falling apart. A business fails. An investment is lost. A carefully planned venture suddenly stops working. The future becomes uncertain, and the temptation to give up becomes stronger than the desire to continue.
For Daniel Obum Anigbo, Popularly Known as “BESTPROMOTE” with over 40 thousand TikTok followers such moments were not the end of his journey. They became the moments that shaped him. His story is not one of overnight success, it is a real-life account of a young entrepreneur who has experienced failure, made difficult decisions, started over and continued to pursue his dreams while creating opportunities for others. Today, Anigbo is building businesses, exploring technology and using entertainment and social media to support emerging creators. But behind those activities is a much deeper story—a story of persistence.
A dream that refused to die
Born on July 1, 1994, and raised in Benue State, Anigbo’s journey took him beyond Nigeria after secondary school when he travelled to Dubai for further technical studies. He spent two years there before returning to Nigeria, where he ventured into business. Like many people who enter entrepreneurship with dreams of building something meaningful, he soon discovered that ambition alone does not guarantee success. Some of his ventures worked. Others did not. At one point, Anigbo established a polythene production factory in Benue State. He had invested his energy and resources into the business, hoping to build something sustainable. But eventually, the factory folded. It was a painful experience.Yet, instead of allowing the failure to convince him that he was not meant for business, he moved on.
He later ventured into the phone and gadget business in Lagos. Again, circumstances forced him to make a difficult decision. Running a business in Lagos while constantly travelling between Lagos and Abuja became increasingly stressful and affected his ability to give the business the attention it required. He eventually closed the Lagos operation and concentrated his efforts in Abuja. For someone watching from the outside, these events might appear to be a series of disappointments. For Anigbo, they became lessons.
The courage to start again
Building a business in Nigeria, Anigbo says, is not a bed of roses. Businesses can rise and fall. Some ideas work while others fail. There are moments when an entrepreneur is forced to close one venture and begin another. He has lived through that reality. His response has been resilience. “You have to be strong,” he says, reflecting on the challenges he has encountered. That simple philosophy has kept him moving.
Rather than remaining trapped by the businesses that failed, he continued experimenting, learning and rebuilding. Today, he runs the Best Group, with interests that include D Way Water Board, D Way Hotel and Best Island Hotel, among other ventures. But even as his business interests have grown, Anigbo’s ambitions have expanded beyond commercial success. He has discovered another way of making an impact: helping other people find their own opportunities.
Finding purpose in lifting others
Anigbo’s journey into entertainment was not originally driven by a grand ambition to become an industry heavyweight. It started largely as something he enjoyed. Through livestreaming, promotion and social media, however, he gradually began using his platform to promote emerging content creators and entertainers. For him, entertainment became more than personal enjoyment.
It became an opportunity to help people who were trying to be seen. His philosophy is captured in a simple but powerful statement: “We rise by lifting others.”
In an industry where competition can be intense and everyone wants to reach the top, Anigbo has chosen to create space for others. He says he sometimes promotes people simply because he likes what they are doing—not necessarily because they have paid him to do so. He encourages people to follow them, engage with their content and give them the visibility they need to grow. That approach has gradually built a community around his platform.
Starting from virtually zero, his new TikTok account reportedly grew to tens of thousands of followers within a short period, attracting several emerging creators. But for Anigbo, the numbers are not the most important achievement. The bigger victory is seeing another person get an opportunity.
“You can’t win in a day”. Perhaps the most important lesson Anigbo has drawn from his experiences is that success is rarely instantaneous. He does not believe in the idea that one must achieve everything at once. Instead, he believes in small wins. “You can’t just win in a day. Winning is a gradual process.”
There was a time when he depended on other people for many things. Today, he says, he has employees working across his businesses. The transformation did not happen overnight. It was built through persistence. Through one decision after another. Through continuing to work even when the outcome was uncertain. Through learning from failure without allowing failure to become his identity. His story therefore carries a message that extends beyond entrepreneurship. It speaks to anyone who has ever started something, failed at it and wondered whether they should try again.
Still dreaming, still building
For Anigbo, the journey is far from over. Despite his existing businesses and growing presence in entertainment, he still describes himself as someone with many dreams to pursue.Technology is one of the areas where he sees significant possibilities. He wants to build something meaningful in the technology space while continuing to develop his entertainment activities and other businesses. But his ambition is not limited to personal advancement. He wants to build ventures that provide useful services and, at the same time, help other people achieve their own dreams. His vision is also bigger than Nigeria.
He wants to build something capable of gaining recognition internationally.
That ambition reflects the mindset that has carried him through his most difficult moments: never become too comfortable with where you are when there is still room to grow.
A life lesson written through experience
What makes Daniel Obum Anigbo’s story compelling is not simply the businesses he owns or the growing audience around his entertainment activities. It is the journey behind them. He has known what it feels like to build something and watch it collapse. He has experienced the frustration of closing a business. He has had to change direction. He has had to start again. But each time, he chose movement over surrender.
His story is a reminder that sometimes the road to success is not a straight line. It can be filled with wrong turns, disappointments and unexpected detours. What matters is what a person does after the setback. Anigbo’s answer has been to rise, learn and continue.
Challenge of Impersonation and Scam
“Best Promote” believes that rise to stardom is not by sudden flight. But raised concerns that fraudsters are creating fake accounts that mimic official pages in real time to appear legitimate. Unsuspecting users who reach out via private message are tricked into paying fraudulent “registration fees” for promotional collaborations. According to Anigbo, victims typically realize they have been scammed only after transferring money to an unverified third-party account and subsequently contacting the actual official channel.
A life transformed.
For Daniel Obum Anigbo, that transformation is still underway—and perhaps the most important part of his story is that he is not only trying to rise. He is trying to take others with him. His message to those still struggling to find their way is simple: know what you want, remain consistent, avoid distractions and keep improving yourself. Success, he believes, is not an overnight story.
