Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has pledged continued government support for CapitalSage Holdings as the diversified Nigerian business group celebrated its 10th anniversary with the inauguration of its global headquarters in Ibadan.
Makinde, who spoke at the ceremony commended the company for its contribution to economic development and job creation, noting that entrepreneurship, skills and knowledge were essential to translating Nigeria’s natural resources into economic prosperity.
He said the group’s decision to establish its headquarters in Ibadan, with about 20 companies operating under its umbrella, represented an opportunity to strengthen economic activities in the state.
“When I was looking at your profile, I saw that you now have about 20 companies in the group. And those 20 companies are headquartered here. I can assure you that we will continue to give our support as a government because we want you to continue to provide jobs and grow the economy of Oyo State,” the governor said.
He also commended the group’s founder, John Alamu, and his team for taking entrepreneurial risks to build the business.
“Somebody has to take the risk on behalf of the people, so John Alamu and team, I congratulate you. I thank you for taking the risk on our behalf,” he said.
The anniversary attracted traditional rulers, including the Ooni of Ife, the Olubadan of Ibadan and the Soun of Ogbomoso, alongside business partners, customers, employees and other stakeholders.
Founded by Alamu with an initial capital of N100,000, CapitalSage has grown into a diversified group with interests spanning financial services and technology, agriculture and food processing, manufacturing, healthcare and cross-border payment solutions.
The new headquarters marks another milestone in its expansion as the group seeks to build businesses from Nigeria while serving markets beyond the country’s borders.
Speaking at the event, Alamu said the company’s growth demonstrated that Nigerian businesses could pursue global ambitions while maintaining strong local roots.
“A business can have global ambitions without abandoning its roots. From Ibadan, we can build for Nigeria. From Nigeria, we can build for Africa. And from Africa, we can build for the world,” he said.
He added that the group’s next decade would focus not merely on expansion but on building stronger, sustainable businesses capable of serving future generations.
The anniversary featured the official opening of the headquarters, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and presentations showcasing companies within the group.
As part of the celebrations, CapitalSage is hosting a three-day public exhibition from October 29 to 31 at CapitalSage House, Kenneth Dike, Secretariat Road, Ibadan. The exhibition, which opens daily at 10 a.m., will allow visitors to explore the group’s businesses, products and services.
The company said it remained committed to expanding its operations, strengthening partnerships and creating economic opportunities through enterprise and innovation.
